About usWritingTravellers open guidebooks: written by travellers and locals, printed specially for you.
The idea of the WritingTravellers open guidebooks project is to share and create travel guide information that can be used to create actual printed guidebooks. The guidebooks will contain more up-to-date, more tailor-made and more unique information than the regular outdated guidebooks. Have a look at the current guidebooks:
Anyone can contribute information and pictures and will be accredited for that in the printed versions as well as in the on-line versions. The WritingTravellers project is a community of communities. Right now you can find our wiki and contribute to it via Travelers for Travelers and the WritingTravellers website. We are open for other travel or writing communities to join in too. All the information in the WritingTravellers wiki is freely accessible under the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 3.0 license. The foundation partners with a publishing company that offers a printing service to create your own personalised, unique guidebook on-the-fly with the latest information from the database. The WritingTravellers Project was founded by Ferdinand Harmsen and Bart van Slobbe in 2006 and operates from the Netherlands and India. February 2007 the team was extended with chief moderator, Manja Koomen who was succeeded in 2009 by Marjolein Vegers. February 2008 Loes van Petersen joined in as marketing consultant. Currently the project is still in beta. To get an idea of how it works to create your own guidebook on the fly simply click build on the homepage.
